Flint just checked in for a few moments - shared an image and that the visiting archeaologist (scholar) was not talking much and that last night's storm made him skittish. Chat and image shared. Will update as more comes in (or come join us in chat as we discuss current and historic lore)
OMG! Maybe this archeologist has found a new prime object. Or a new "power spot" (using Hank's terminology)... Or maybe even a place that is/was connected to the prime Universe...

So... Lot's of focus on Howard. The lesser known of the two writers. Could it be that he ended up being less known because he got too much involved with the investigation (more than using it as inspiration for novels)?

ReplyDeleteI am a connoisseur of Lovecraft and Howard.
Howard was a hardcore philosopher, but he doesn't seem to get the credit he's due.
Essentially he argued that civilization is always a temporary state and that the cycle always goes back to barbarism.
I just finished my second time through the Omnibus of his original Conan works
Cannot recommend highly enough.
One interesting note is that he and Lovecraft were friends and the gods crossed between their work, though with different names given by the worshippers.....
I agreed. That's why I suspect that his acknowledgement has been somewhat... Blocked...

Thing is Howard isn't the lesser known. The difference between Howard and Lovecraft is that Lovecraft is more popular because sword and sorcery is niche compaired to horror.
