A little over five years ago, the scanner got leaked into the world. There were two factions to choose from, the Resistance and the Enlightened. Both had pretty clear goals and agendas in the past. Now, half a decade later, I don't think we can force those goals on the factions anymore. Agents may have realized that the goal there were fighting for shifted. My question to all the agents around the globe, how would you define the Resistance and the Enlightened, and why are you personally fighting for your faction?
In my mind (which is part of my prediction for the "far future of xm"), the enlightened will use xm to adapt, grow and become a natively space traveling species - with very little tech. A species that can survive in space and on planets with a wide variety of "hostility".
ReplyDeleteAnd the resistance transform xm into a form that doesn't "influence". An energy source to power their machines and tools that have become replacements for what the enlightened (due to their "evolution") can do natively.
So to me being "Enlightened" means to adapt to evolution by using xm as a tool to "shape" evolution while being "Resistance" means to overpower evolution through mechanical engineering.
this is still a war of res against enl about mind control. Everyone claiming something different should uninstall their scanner and play pokemon. #teamhardcore #resistanceisawesome

ReplyDeleteIt’s always important to remember in this that even though it feels like we have two sides, we have the enlightened who believe one thing and we have the resistance that believe another thing. I really believe as a truth seeker we’ll find the answers because we keep questioning each other. And it’s only through this interaction that we’ll arrive at the truth. If only one side were investigating these ideas you wouldn’t have critical thinking about what the truth really means. It’s very hard to get the big picture but I think here in Japan you have a very promising chance to find the truth. So as always I would suggest that you Seek the truth.

I sympathized strongly with his opinion. The two Factions are some type of debate. Almost people are not at the extreme each. But everyone must first select one and think about the relationship with others who made different choices. I think that's the mean of that.
At first there was a real 'Embracing an Extra Dimensional Intelligence VS. Not' but the introduction of the N'Zeer kind of changed that I think. It now feels more to me like the Resistance are not just defending humanity anymore unless they feel that defending humanity is the N'zeer end game...which it might be, but if so why?
ReplyDeleteWhile my commitment to the Resistance and fighting off the alien invasion has never wavered, it has become a great deal more personal for me because of the massive levels of personal hostility I have encountered from local ENL agents. These days, since my AO’s cell septicycles are rarely in question, what gets me out of the house is more of a desire to show them who’s boss.
ReplyDeleteHumans first. Ingressors second. Faction choice is a distant third. I'd generally love to be in Community with almost everyone I've met through the game, and so I've always seen it not as Enlightened and Resistance, as much as Enlightened and Unenlightened, with a slightly sad sigh that there has to be competition (I'd much rather a game of mutual building and beauty than competition, but I'm Enlightened like that) at all for other humans to be interested.

We hear about them. I am one. You might be, too. Not a species; an archetype, a mindset. To "resist" that brilliance (who's against DaVinci?) is silly. Shapers are beings who carry our understandings forward.
Ingressors do, too. No matter the faction. But I'm Enlightened because I couldn't bear to be labeled Unenlightened. Plus, I look better in green, although it's much rarer in (at least American) clothing than blue.
Whatever the reason, unless you're nasty and overly aggressive (I'll leave your other local players to judge - listen to their opinions, change accordingly) I'm glad you (reading this) play. Whatever faction. This larger Ingress community has done some very amazing things, and I'm happy that, as my larger human family (that's the not-nasty "can see beyond faction lines" folk), you've participated with me. It's not really a competition, because:
It's so much more than a game.
I think being Enlightened is about being open and curious about XM and the shapers.
ReplyDeleteRES will make us slaves to N'zeer and their pet AIs, A Detection Algorithm included. That ship should've been abandoned as soon as it decided to plot murders and jump in to human bodies.
ReplyDeleteENL want to advance our humanity through the humanities...but they're painfully naïve when it comes to how dangerous the world really is. "Our friends" out there have an agenda, same as the N'zeer.
I'm #TeamHumans and #TeamFreeWill . The broken magnus that started all of this was neither. Ditto for the main "truthseeker" and anyone else who's claimed to not have a side in this.
When I realized that there was a silent war being fought between 2 factions I did research into each side. What I saw was that the Shapers with Enlightened help want to control the evolution of the human species. The Resistance believe that we should evolve naturally as God or science intends which ever your preference is. For me this has not changed. Some have looked to the N'zeer and AI to help with this battle myself personally I don't see that they are needed. I believe in being self-sufficient and that humanity would be better off remembering this and living by it.
