OERPG - Online Essex Remote Participation Game - Alpha Session-

Edgar Allan Wright asked if any of Essex had experience with RPG sessions, as shown by his post - https://plus.google.com/110289508116377658380/posts/1rXz6SPUVLH

Today, I ran a private testing session among a select few Essex investigators to gauge the feasibility of running something like this on a weekly basis, while entirely ONLINE.

My expectations were totally blown away by the enthusiasm of those involved in this private test. The module we ran is called The Tragedy of Roanoke

Set in the late 1500's gauging the fate of the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island.

You will find linked the play through log of our RPG session.

Running this session online was the best option, as we were able to have players from all over the globe participating in this session.

Due to the success of this initial session, we're going to run more of these in the future. Though not necessarily touching upon the Tragedy of Roanoke again, but other moments in history in the future.

Please let me know what you think!

And without further ado... I give you the Tragedy of Roanoke

  1. Speaking of "remote participation", and referring to what H. Richard Loeb wrote in his last post - quantum interaction - plus.google.com - If you've been paying attention to the news the last few days, this may have ...

How did you consider casualty management within this experimental RPG session?

Have you been entrusted with a flow of purely narrative and unconditional (diceless) events, or, on the contrary, have you entrusted the success of the actions taken by casualness through dice?

In this second hypothesis, it is more than likely that, considering true distance interaction through space / time, the resulting RPG actions were a real reverberation of what happened somewhere else and at a different time - those , in the narration.

Can this be a valid starting point for reflection?
