Why haven't we seen a 3rd Faction in Action?
Concepts of yin and yang, light and dark, Shapers and N’Zeer, AntiMagnus and 13Magnus, XM and Dark XM, Enlightened and Resistance.
But is there a third state of mind? Yes, if you take away both of the above concepts, you are left with a void. So, does the void have a color? No, void is an allusion to nothing, not something; something does have a color, nothing does not have a color.
Both factions believe they know something, some following the ideal that the Shapers will improve us, others believe the N’Zeer will improve us. They both follow the same ideal that there is a promise of something that will improve us. Each in opposition as to what that something is, and therefore, in opposition to each other, this being another example of yin and yang. We could dare to even say that one cannot exist without the other, in the case of the two factions of Resistance and Enlightened, using the definition provided by the glyphs themselves for our factions we are given struggle for the Resistance and edification for the Enlightened.
It can be argued that life itself is a struggle and through the struggle, we learn and gain knowledge, being put through an edification of life. Thus both factions feed the other, and taking into account this facet, we can show that the lack of struggle and edification does not advance life at all, and we do not go forward.
In other words nothing begets nothing, and something leads to something. To go a bit further, you can say that we can have struggle without edification, and this is only an empty life of struggle without learning and thus destruction. A life of edification without struggle is itself another example of an empty life, as there would be no struggle for us to test our knowledge against and we would again wither and fade away.
So what of the Vesuvian Magnus? That obviously lead to the eruption of Vesuvius and the destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum, this is not a means of saying that there is no future to be had with the path that the Vesuvian Magnus had taken, but this lead to another means of destruction.
So as it stands without is not a means to improve oneself, and obviously possesses a void for a future.
I think that this is why we have not seen a third faction.

I would think that this is what the New Wavers (RES/ENL) are beginning to bring to the table.
ReplyDeleteDuality exists in nearly every aspect of our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual existence. We have day and night, light and dark, sun and moon, proton and electron, matter and energy – all examples of natural duality. But what would be a third force about? Really nothing? Void? Let's think about some equations:
ReplyDeletePositive + Negative = Neutrality
Order + Chaos = Synchronicity
A third force might be the perfect balance between the two contraries of duality. A solution. And finally peace.

ReplyDeletePersonally I'd love to get a third faction to mix things up but it feels like we are too entrenched in our current way of thinking for a third idea to have any chance to take hold unfortunately.
Ive come to the conclusion that the NWE/NWR have the same end state in mind but are leveraging the best of what both factions can offer. I wouldnt align them to the cause of the enl/res, but i like to imagine their cause is something greater than that of the shapers or nzeer.
ReplyDeleteOr the possibility of classes within factions. Pertaining more to individual beliefs then rather as a whole general belief.... And as a whole , the individual beliefs can change the tide of the faction overall, NWR/NWE.
ReplyDeleteI consider what happened to the Vesuvian Magnus not tobe the result of the folly of man. It was preemptive strike by the Shapers and N'Zeer.
ReplyDeleteIf man used the portals for as places of inspiration without recieving that inspiration from an extra dimensional intelligence, ie from those portals being neutral aligned or even "human" aligned, then the Shapers/N'Zeer would fear that humanity will rebel against them, declare manifest destiny, and begin to seed other realities like they had. The Shapers/N'Zeer do not want that since they know what humanity is capable of doing.
Remember besides for creating techthulhu, OLW managed to make artificial XM and managed to pipe that into the portal network. In many ways, he was firing a shot at the Shapers/N'Zeer who were unable to respond to his actions.
I see the New Wavers as being pure extensions of struggle and edification. I think that the current factions balance each other out and at the same time feed the other.
ReplyDeleteMario Valenzuela II , though I watched OLW's decent into madness during his Via Noir videos. Though he may have fired off a shot at the Shapers/N'Zeer, was it really worth the cost he obviously paid with his sanity? I personally don't think so.
Do I suspect that there's a third path in all of this to tread in the future, yes, I fully believe that there is, but, I don't think we'll see it in this current version of the scanner. :)
3rd faction is irrelevant in this game, as Pokemon has also shown. It is always your faction against the world.
ReplyDeleteKosh TheRipper if a new Vesuvian-Styled Magnus's only casualty was OLW's current simulacrum and the Shapers/N'Zeer did not do something something like trigger the Yellow Stone Caldera in retaliation, then they might think it was totally worth it.

Mario Valenzuela II unfortunately, a few other casualties of Oliver Lynton-Wolfe's techthulu were Susanna Moyer and Klue's transition into the portal network. This time around, I do not think that the Shapers and N'Zeer showed any sign in stopping OLW, but we agents did together during Via Noir.
ReplyDeleteKosh TheRipper those were ENL casualties, although res also morned them. A third faction with goals contrary to those of the Shapers and N'Zeer would only strike Susanna and Klue's name off a list of targets. They may even celebrate that they achieved a major victory against the ENL by reducing its post Abaddon VIPs down to Acoltye, Hank, and Jarvis.
ReplyDeleteRemember the Niantic symbol is a tetrahedron embedded into a representation of three dimensional space. The initial scenario influenced agents into binary thinking (resistance vs enlightened). However the backstory hinted at devious workings by a quazi-governmental agency, which we the agents (also binary thinking) were working to thwart, but we were also divided into two groups, and asked periodically to join forces to defeat the efforts of the third. The third is still there performing as "the man behind the curtain". Of course the forth would be the other beings vying for human attentions. Presumably a successful "vaccine" on Devra B.'s part would have effected both the Shapers and the N'Zeer.

ReplyDeleteHeidi Beck Interesting in sights! :) But you must also take into account that Klue has been on both sides of the faction spectrum, RES and ENL. The point that I was trying to make is that a third (within the current version of the scanner) would be absence of both of these factions, a void so to speak.
