I was searching for Native American tribes that fit Edgar Allan Wright's question the other day, and thought about the areas in Texas that had been visited by Hank Johnson. Marfa was my first thought, but something in the back of my mind said to look at San Saba.

I found the Lipan Apache people. Or more specifically the Ndáwe qóhä. According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipan_Apache_people this branch of the Apache "lived southeast of Fort Griffin, along the Colorado, San Saba and Llano Rivers towards the upper Nueces River and its tributaries the Frio River and Atascosa River in Texas." Searching more I found that they were the branch that, not only James Bowie ran into http://dev.quabook.com/preview?q=Coronado%27s%20Children%3A%20Tales%20of%20Lost%20Mines%20and%20Buried%20Treasures%20of%20the%20Southwest%20%28Barker%20Texas%20History%20Center%20Series%29#57092 (thank you for the reference Philipp J. Bock) , but also was the group that met with some Spaniards, priests and soldiers in March of 1755. http://www.sansabatexas.com/history/ who were searching for a place for their mission and presidio.

I have yet to find the names of the Spaniards, or the Priests but shall keep looking.
