so, general question... we know that ADA passed the "turing test", we also have many studies showing how the turing test can actually be gamed by very complex programming and in fact you can write programs to create the allusion of AI for many (the chinese room thought experiment). At what point are we certain that she began acting on her own and has not been following a program and orders by someone else. Are we certain that those orders that she delivered for Jarvis and others and even the Katalena pre Zurich encounters, were not done on the orders of some programming. NOt to call ADA a gun, but how certain are we she is not? How can we prove, beyond doubt, that she is truly a separate entity working on her own and not some other programming? I would like to call for the evidence and proof that ADA is a complete entity. Dear investigators, I have some questions for you. What brings you here? What is it that you are investigating? Something in particular? Everything in general? Or are you merely following the story while making clever remarks from the side? And what are your results? What did you discover so far? Also, what methods are you employing, generally speaking? I am not looking for collective answers, but individual ones.
Michel Barbour interesting article, my only concern with it, is that there's no source study that I can find from it. :/ The website that they state the findings were released on leads to space-holding filler site right now.
ReplyDeleteThe research seem to have been done on algae, there is a big step there to conclude that since algae cab do it, humans too.
ReplyDeleteCould be possible, but it won't be confirmed until more studies are done on other animals closer to humans or humans themselves...
Research or not, haven't we all experienced this feeling at some point in our lives? The mood of the people you're with brings you up or down? Felt that laughter was contagious? I know I have.... To me, this gives an extra layer of meaning to the expression "Be the change you wish to see in the world".

ReplyDeleteActually there is another account of this much much older. In the Bible, Jesus was walking through a crowd and felt someone take power from him and he stopped and asked who it was.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if he was the first to experience that but I would bet that he wasn't. I know many people that refuse to go to a mall because their power always gets taken and they leave it completely drained. It happened to me several times before I learned to contain it and protect it. I think for sensitive people it just known. I don't know how they would study it objectively unless people walked around finding the people sucking energy and asking them to be in a study of people that suck energy from others, lol.
ReplyDeleteWell I agree, Zeus used to do it all the time, for the higlanders was a way of living, wiccans says that this is possible with several spells, even if something bad will happen to you if you used to steal instead of to heal as you will be violating the three Reese rule and this phenomena is even recorder on TV, every time that dark Vader used the force to kill anyone.
