Hi everybody, thanks for allowing me in here.

Hi everybody, thanks for allowing me in here.

I'm a french RES agent from Grenoble, and I provide translations of all docs from investigate.ingress.com to the French Xfaction community. I've been following Operation : Essex for months, and I intend to further my work by translating some documents and theories you guys bring in here.

  1. Hello, Josselin.
I'm a RES agent from China and I did the same thing, that I used to translate the intelligence docs from investigate.ingress.com to my mother tongue.
But I wonder if it is an infringement of copyright so I stopped my translation now.
Can anybody here tell me what's the attitude of Niantic? Or do you know how to contact them? Thank you all!

  2. Lysine Liu Oh, I never even thought about it that way. As long as you don't claim it as your own, it shouldn't be a problem I think! I always link to the original PAC post FIRST LINE in my translations actually ^^

I don't think it would be a problem to make things like that readable by as many as possible =)

  3. Is it necessary? Just use Google translate.

  4. Translation is most certainly going to be encouraged by Niantic. I know they have supported someone doing Japanese translations. It's a valuable service and is absolutely legal. Thank you to all translators for the service they provide to the global community. :)

  5. Ron Nielsen Google Trad is really a pain in the ass when it comes to symbology and stuff. PAC likes to use circonvoluting sentences, and Google Trad, at least EN to FR, is a real pain in the ass... And it gives me a way to be useful even without a job =D

  6. Ron Nielsen Google translate is, in my experience, a good starting point but any complex sentence structure or involvement of non-major language (such as Swedish or Turkish) will give quite often hilariously bad results.
My wife is currently working translating a website from Swedish to German since they had only used Google Translate before and there are so many errors that make the text ambiguous.
