It's accepted that modern XM sensitives like Felicia Hajra-Lee can write about events before they happen, but maybe earlier generations of sensitives were trying to warn us about the future, too.

For example, what if Arthur C. Clarke was an XM sensitive warning against letting aliens control human development, translating visions of Shapers into terms his audience would understand? Perhaps a sufficiently advanced prophecy is indistinguishable from science fiction!
