Its always been unknown who the professor was, but perhaps this is one of the mysteries #IngressOrigins shines light on. According to Tycho's work, Dr. Kureze was also a professor before being put into the Niantic Project. It also just so happens that he was abducted the exact same way as the professor in the video. Coincidence?

If this is true, this is extremely disturbing. Its one thing if more information is added via new sources of information, it's another if prior facts change via new sources of information. The professor in the abduction video looks nothing like Dr Kureze as seen on the ingress Report and goes by "Professor R" according to a newspaper clipping from Day 20 of the investigation. It just doesn't add up.
ReplyDeleteAnd if this is going to become common, then it is going to make the investigation much more difficult. It's the equivalent of doing a puzzle, matching up a couple of pieces, then watching the puzzle pieces you matched up change, forcing you to piece together the puzzle again. In this case the damage to the foundation of the lore isn't so bad, but this sets a bad precedent for future additions/changes.
Actually, the Kureze in the comic does look more like this fellow than the man who debated Brandt on camera to me. We know he cropped his hair, could the NIA have sent him to a spa to melt away a few years? I suppose a reporter might have mistaken a capital K for an R in handwritten notes, too. We now know Devra took more than one train trip, though, and lost a phone both times. They may have kidnapped more than one professor from class - or someone else may have taken others.
