So, going back to conversations started by Edgar Allan Wright, is #abaddon a reference to a person or place?

So, going back to conversations started by Edgar Allan Wright, is #abaddon a reference to a person or place?

Personally, I was most intrigued by Yik Sheng Lee's place-process theory. What do you think?

  1. I believe its a "thing" not a person or a place.

  2. What if it is neither, but the description of the portal that the N'Zeer use to come to our world?

  3. I hold the belief that Abaddon is possibly an event, the event that triggered the inception of the Niantic Project. It has been referenced to as "The Abaddon Project" in this document: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+NianticProject/posts/Q3Yqie7fX55

  4. Brent Werlein A portal is a place, isn't it? Or are you referring to it being an object?

  5. Thomas Arteaga, a portal can be found at a place, but it is technically not a place. Our scanners show us some portals, but others remain hidden or "offline". What if this petal is like NL1331 and moves from place to place, never staying put very long?

  6. Brent Werlein Think of portals as being bridges to other dimensions. That "bridge" is a place where xm theoretically crosses into our dimension. The bridge can also be an object, and, in some cases, can be moved. It really is an inappropriate comparison to try to compare portals to places in the traditional sense like a city in my opinion.

  7. Thomas Arteaga is it though, nests are generally places and not objects as far as we know.

  8. At the risk of seeming unwilling to pick one over the other, I still see no reason why Abaddon cannot represent a person in a place at a point in time. Abaddon has been referenced in history as a person and a place. I have some sleep dep going on over here, but even looking at the art for the Abaddon anomaly series I can see the the 'A' representing Abaddon the person being at/in Abaddon the place, represented by the flames. I know the art is not generally considered significant, but the duality here in this particular art cannot be immediately ruled out.

  9. When the researchers have been absorbed into the portal network and split into shards I believe that all the negative and evil/dark aspects of thier personalities have been engineered into the Abaddon force. We have yet to see this force manifest itself and who actually engineered this???

  10. I think abbadon is the Abyss as mentioned on the hero's journey theory, the darkest moment before the dawn, not necessarily a physical place or a person, but a virtual phase.
I wrote this about Abbadon relative to ADA but I'm sure it can be applied to all investigators trapped on the portal network,

  11. Brent Werlein Nests can be destroyed as shown by Hank Johnson, and yet, the place the nest was located at the time remained. It isn't an apt comparison to compare portals to places in the traditional sense. They are, after all, transdimensional.

  13. What if it is an effect of an XM artifact?

  14. Thomas Arteaga as stated above it can be all or none. Perhaps it is an omen of things to come. In essence a harbinger of change.
