  2. James Thirteen can we really agree on "when to take a human life?"

    It's not that simple. In some cultures it is proper to kill a woman if she has been raped. It's called an "honor killing" because it supposedly restores the honor of her family. In other cultures it is the norm to kill a man for walking into the village without bringing a woman to offer as a bride. (Source: Lecture tour at Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, CA regarding Polynesian culture).

    And then there's the "rules of war" called the Geneva Conventions. Some nations adhere strictly to them. Others pay them lip service. Some mock them. Others make a mockery of them.

    So ... maybe the "rules" on killing humans aren't quite cut and dry.
