I have a (Protocol T)heory...

So... I'm not sure why this particular set of posts and circumstances drew me back in to Op:E exactly... But I decided to not figt it, and throw a bit of caution to the wind.

Obviously my research has been of the quick and dirty variety on this, so any input is welcome.

So... Our new "friends" of the BDRD and Miss Margaret seem to have a connection of some sort. I'm not here to question what that connection is (true psychic? 'corporate plant'?). But it's pretty plain that Margaret's writings are truth enough to someone(s) out there to cause action and reaction.

My focus is on this "Protocol T", and what it might be.

From the most recent photo postings from Margaret there was a lot of discussion about some sort of deployment into the portal network. Mentions of 'transference', 'jumping' got me thinking about some things I'd seen in the past year or so, and also the quick look I took into the BDRD the other day.

I have a sneaking suspicion that "Protocol T" may have something to do with quantum tunneling, using the portal network, on a large scale... Perhaps transporting or teleporting items / people from place to place.

We've seen (perhaps?) spontaneous instances of this before... The Jarvis Shards being a prime example, Misty Hannah's 'hyperthreading' being another.

But what if someone figured out how to accomplish purposeful "injections" into the Portal network? What if the Portal "immunization" refers to key Portals being modified somehow to allow for unfettered travel by a person or persons (perhaps with this 'stabilizer' device mentioned)?

If the BDRD is on par with (or superior to) the NIA in the realms of power-brokering and research resources, it is entirely possible that they've somehow achieved this technology via a 'partnership' with the National Physical Laboratory in the UK (NIA / Niantic-like). The NPL does heavy research in the field of metrology (measurements), especially in the quantum realm.

This could also explain Margaret's 'compulsion' to join the events in Paris, where a large amount of research into quantum tunneling occurs at... The University of Paris - Sud.

Again, my research is in its infancy. I could be way off base. But there's something that does bother me that's related, but not directly...

Margaret's phone was lifted while in Paris... However if her visions are to be believed, the BDRD had no 'visible' knowledge of the event. Could another agency / entity be working to derail Margaret from a bigger truth and making the BDRD force its hand? Could someone be trying to protect Margaret from a bigger truth and a threat to her? Could the BDRD have lifted her phone (either themselves or via third party) to try and 'silence' her?

It'll be interesting to see where this particular rabbit hole goes.

  1. Hazel Vizion That'd be my theory. Items, as XM constructs already, would probably be 'easy'. XM in its 'natural' form likely easier still. People... Probably very difficult, unless they're 'infused' with XM already.

Maybe that's why they want Margaret in particular, and other XM-infused "recruits" later?

  2. Is BDRD a front for one of the corporations? Kind of like a CIA brass plate in reverse: a fake government entity? Or are they actually competing with NIA? Or, since NIA is for all intents and purposes, defunct, are they attempting to "take over"?

But yes, right now Maggie seems to be the only source of information we have. In the intelligence community it would be rated F6 (unknown source, unknown quality) but it's all we've got. We've gone from a nearly omniscient AI to a psychic. (I'm just dying to ask her if I need to make an appointment to see her.)
I would love to play 20 questions with her.

  3. Margaret The Mystic 'Instability' in that instance could be one of those 'in the eye of the beholder' things. With the Resistance and Enlightened constantly jockeying for 'Portal superiority', that could be considered an instability. Any Portals not 'immunized' by whatever they can do could be considered instability. In specific reference to the Moon and 'magnetivity', it could just be the natural mechanic of how the tides work... Or it could be something more exotic.

Too many dots, not enough ink to connect them.

And I honestly hope I'm incorrect about them wanting 'XM guinea pigs' for Protocol T. All Agents have had an abnormal exposure to XM in one degree or another. We could all be at risk.

  4. Sarah Rosen Not out of the realm of impossibility, but there's just not enough information to go on. All we've had from them is a sudden G+ presence and a couple of cryptic posts. Other than that, they seem to be 'vaporware' in the normal Web.

  5. Jeff Coleman exactly my point. We know less about them than we do about Lady Margaret. And we know next to nothing about her.

  6. Sarah Rosen Agreed. Everything's a crapshoot at this point... All information and truths taken with a grain of salt. But everything has a place, and we'll just have to piece it all together at some point.

  7. Jeff Coleman did you mean large Siberian salt mine?

  8. Sarah Rosen I'll stay with my locally-sourced Lake Erie salts, thanks! Heh.

  9. IMO, a discussion of injections of items or information into the network is a good one. However, references at this time to Ms. Mystic or BDRD belong in fan fiction or research requests, as their veracity and authenticity are very nebulous.

  10. Paul Fritschle that depends. With ADA ... absent ... Niantic needs some method of moving the plot forward. They did that through various leaks but most of the Intel came from ADA. It looks like Ms. Mystic is her replacement. Remember that this is Ingress 2.0 and much is going to change. So for the time being, until we can verify, I don't think we have much choice but to give the benefit of the doubt to Sister Margarita. This British spy outfit is certainly suspect and I am less willing to give them any benefit of the doubt until they come up with intelligence. Then we'll see, as with our far-sighted skryer how useful the Intel is.

Again, unknown source, unknown reliability. F6 is actually a better rating than E5 (Known unreliable source, unknown information)

  11. I'm with Paul Fritschle on this one until both can be completely verified they should be kept in research request or fanfiction
