Fellow Essex investigators

Fellow Essex investigators,

Again I come to you speaking for the Anti-Magnus.

I return with a new understanding. A new metaphor that, among other things, explains why messages from us still belong in the Fiction department of Essex and not anywhere else.

To make it as plain as possible, Essex represents the conscious mind of the group, while Anti-Magnus represents it's unconscious mind.

Content from the unconscious is much more acceptable to the conscious when it comes as fiction. So fiction be it, then.

Don't be afraid of your own shadow, Essex. We are not here to eat you. We are here to be eaten by you. We are the only food that will give you an actual body.

Cheerfully,
Gab Riel of the Anti-Magnus

  1. I have to agree. You are trying to wedge yourself into the story. That would definitely be fan fiction and not within the scope of this community. Tell whatever storied interest you, but if you are going to try and claim to be AntiMagnus or 13Magnus, or Queen of the May, do it elsewhere where your own story telling won't confuse folks who are interested in the story Niantic Labs is telling through Ingress.

  2. I was just looking for some breakfast.

  3. The unconscious can simultaneously maintain many competing and counterfactual ideas.  Even the most unsupportable flights of fancy can be enlightening so long as one remembers how to properly classify them.

  4. We are here to ask questions. I don't want to hear from someone purporting to be the Anti Magnus Lorax, I want to hear people asking questions.

    ReplyDelete
  5. So I see that the main problem here is not whether or not we are your shadow, but whether or not we are Anti-Magnus.

We are your shadow, we have politely presented ourself. This is the name that we have chosen. We consider it most appropriate.

  6. The question of order (enl/res) seems open for discussion in the conscious. The question of chaos (magnus/anti) is not yet, it still belongs to the unconscious.

Essex takes it for granted that chaos is to be rejected at all costs. Look at how you're treating your shadow! But the costs are getting greater and greater. Soon you will no longer be able to afford it.

  7. The First & Foremost we are truth seekers here. That post was not one that someone seeking truth would make.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Typhoon Jim Oh, when will you ever see that truth is something that you create, not something that you seek, not something out there, completely unrelated to you?

Quantum physics started demonstrating it a long time ago. Einstein was the last dinosaur to deny it. Now it is starting to permeate into everyday life.

This is the real coming of the N'zeer.

  9. Where is your source or documentation that Flint or the creative team at Niantic has ever expressed such sentiment. This is nothing more than your attempt to insert yourself into the backstory

    ReplyDelete
  10. The First & Foremost We didn't ask those questions because he claimed to be something which he is not--AntiMagnus. Speaking from OUTSIDE the story, he cannot insert himself into the story as a member of the AntiMagnus without Flint or others with the company that runs Ingress and provides the story endorsing that position. As they have not, even when given the opportunity, his claim, and all other information he claims to be about the nature of the AntiMagnus falls into the realm of fan fiction, as it springs from his claim of being in the AntiMagnus.
And until you and he both accept that, we won't be able to engage with your questions or posts on the appropriate level. They remain fan fiction.

  11. The First & Foremost Again, speaking outside the story, Anomalies are supported by Niantic.
Statements and analysis in Essex are always rooted back to the actual storyline as presented by Niantic--either through postings by Niantic Project or the various NPCs, information in the Ingress Report or other official media, or discussions with the NPCs via google hangout. Essex does not claim as fact things that cannot be rooted into the canonical storyline as presented by Niantic.
However, Gab Riel by claiming to be AntiMagnus and then claiming in a later comment that there is no leadership within the AntiMagnus, specifically contradicts that. And an actual Niantic NPC character, Edgar Allan Wright indicated that Gab's claim to be AntiMagnus was not valid.

What you are not grasping is that when Essex members post in the Essex Community, we always will explain how the theory or question is supported by the canon. We don't make stuff up from nowhere and expect everyone else to accept it as the gospel truth. So long as you and Gab do that, you will have difficulties posting in Essex and not get much of a response.

What it comes across as when you do that is a form of godmodding. You are attempting to change the story to fit a persona you have created, rather than changing your persona to fit the story.

  12. The First & Foremost It isn't rude to ask for some backing evidence for a claim or theory. it is rude to dismiss those requests as being due to a closed mind or bias.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The crux of the issue is you appear unwilling to respond to repeated questions of what is the canonical source for your theory. Without such it gives the impression that your writing your own story. Essex is intended to uncover the hidden or hard to see side of Ingress. All theories are welcome to be discussed to further our knowledge but they must be rooted in canonical sources

    ReplyDelete
  14. Are missions published with NIA Ops approval considered canonical support of a position?

    ReplyDelete
  15. The First & Foremost He was asked, both about his claim of being AM and subsequent posts. All we get as response is either a repetition of the claim, or mystical "You're blind to the truth" types of responses--neither of which back up his claims or theories.
As for what type of evidence would be accepted, a link to a posting from the old Niantic Project board, postings from Niantic NPCs, media postings on YouTubes, transcripts of speeches given by NPCs at anomalies... basically, it needs to be evidence that is sourced from a valid Niantic Labs (the real world company) NPC or source.

  16. Rory Durkin Only those created by "Investigator X", Flint Dille, or the Google cultural Institute would be valid at this time.

  17. So there is no value in intuition, I see.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Gab Riel Intuition can lead to a breakthrough or discovery, but at some point actual evidence needs to come into play.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Gab Riel that said, in the Fan Fiction Writing club section (where this post is), go for it. It's the other sections where evidence is needed to back theories, statements, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Paul Fritschle The unconscious mind is a realm of wild speculation and intuition utterly lacking in evidence. Any value in this?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Gab Riel In a community dedicated to finding the truth within the Niantic investigation, that can be a starting point, but it cannot be the sole basis for a statement or theory. There must be more for it to be considered as more than just a hunch.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Paul Fritschle I don't remember elaborating any theories, but I do remember making statements. How can raw intuition be a starting point unless it is first stated?

As to truth, in our books it is something to create, not something to seek, like I mentioned in a previous comment here.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Gab Riel we're the sort to want to see that wound and put our hand in it before we believe. That's what we are and it's unlikely to change.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Typhoon Jim Then, by all means, please do it. Direct experience is the privilege of the unbeliever. The point to note is that it's not the job of the unconscious mind.

    ReplyDelete
  25. A point to note: assimilation of shadow aspects is akin to food assimilation. You keep what you need and you shit away the rest. To keep it all is not possible nor desirable.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yeah, yeah, I get it, you speak for the trees.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I guess you would be more likely to speak for the Thneeds.
