I just recieved the glyph message "AVOID PERFECTION HUMAN SHAPERS LIE"

My question is this: if the Shapers created and are sending these Glyphs, why do they admit that they lie? Could it be another entity in the network, speaking through these xm constructs via Oliver Lynton-Wolfe's scanner technology?

Roland Jarvis, the entity we know as A.D.A., Hank Johnson (John Hanke?), and possibly Klue S. have all been seen to possess some ability to speak via the Portal Network.

Am I missing something?

  1. If Visur Technology Hulong Transglobal and others can hack through portal's network matrix, why we can't admit that share and expose data using it?

Perhaps, even our scanner technology... as we take, we give something back. Our scanners may be mining data behind glyphs recognition, who knows...

  2. A discussion was raised in the hangout like a week ago, and we concluded there are several message writers, though we don't know who they are.

  3. Maybe there is a shaper who has a different perspective than others. A rogue so to speak good or bad.

  4. As I come and go, know little of previous musings, my own thoughts of the glyphs are that about half are aimed at the Enlightenment faction, the rest a mix of who knows what. Some clamour for bipartisan peace, some (like above) seek to pour cold water on the shapers, others are philosophical musings, and a few urge the humans to persist (with or regardless of the resistance), etc. I've yet to see any overarching logic. In general, i find 3 things intriguing vis/vis glyphs: the absence of Ada, the disconnect between the influence the Corps have on the portal network (ie new/more items) and everyday hacks, and the lack of a "personalised" story via glyphs for players to latch on to. In this respect, with the [underwhelming] introduction of "missions", there's a lot of underutilised 'potential' in the "game".

  5. The amount of contradictory messages and the trends in messages as time goes on left me with the impression that there may not even be authors in the way we would think of them. What if the portals themselves create messages from the thoughts of individuals who visit them and of those collected from linked portals? As the prevailing memes of these sources fluctuate, so to does the portals responses to our hacking.

  6. I'm with Bill Robitskes concept and take. I'm driving for my work right now so I can't get into it much more until later.

  7. Interesting idea. Were you near a green or a blue portal when you thought of it?

  8. Both, my "favored portal" changes hands often, and the area is regularly active on both sides.

  9. Bill Robitske though you are RES I think you may have keyed in a potential major weakness to exploit ADAs take over of human minds. Great "About" on why you chose blue btw.

  11. Bill Robitske well, maybe, but I suspect we're still some ways away from this within Ingress (as opposed to drones/swarms). I mean you're suggesting not only awareness of self, but of other selves? That's pretty sci-fi! ;) ... It wouldn't surprise me if the multiple authors behind the glyphs were playing a propaganda 'war' and within that there are 1 or 2 or more "factions/groupings" we're not accounting for, including a "free portal consciousness" of sorts (as others have also pointed to).
