I had a random thought while replying to a comment in a post of mine about shaper messages.

What if the N'Zeer were not erased from history by the shapers? What if they selectively edited themselves our of history so they could compromise shaper messages and the shapers themselves?

The N'Zeer were defeated in a war against the shapers so then went into hiding. The adopted shaper attire and went off doing things covertly. One suggests to the collective to erase references to the N'Zeer from historical records. The collective agrees since the N'Zeer were eradicated completely and the collective doesn't want to relive that bleak period of their history.

Then, a millennia later, when no one is looking a N'Zeer sends the self destruct code to Sodom and Gomorrah, another to the Olmec, and one to the Anasazi. The collective is stunned when they eventually discover that those civilizations fell into decadence and ruin. They do not know who to blame so they invesitgate. Eventually they find the originating shaper, a N'Zeer in disguise, let's call him "Bill." They approach him asked what he did.

Bill replies, "I told them: Open your minds and body to new experiences and begin to make new memories, and to immediatrly abandon the concept of war from their minds."

The collective looks at him with a dumbfounded look then states, "You told them: Open to their minds and bodies, erase theirselves from existance by abandoning themselves to war, and to start immediately."

Bill then gives the collective a look of mock horror as the collective walks back to their office before patting himself on the back for wiping out yet another human civilization.

  1. Alternatively it's more likely that the shapers did that. The N'Zeer are considered dragons yes? Compare the dragons of the West (where shaper influence is known to be strong) with Eastern dragons. Eastern dragons are helpful and wise and a source of good. Through shaper influence, the Western dragons are considered dangerous beasts
