(Klue/Ada)
Agents. Excellent work. The Helios artifacts have been activated. There is something I want you to see.
(Calvin?)
Its the artifacts they are giving off tremendous amounts of energy. They’re in sync. It looks almost like the whole planet is becoming a portal.
(Hank Johnson)
It’s not a portal, it’s a beacon
(Calvin?)
A beacon? (Couldn’t figure out what was said) Who is it signaling?
(Hank Johnson)
Something that mankind has been hiding from the last five thousand years.
(?)
The shapers
(Hank Johnson)
Our worst nightmare.
(Klue/Ada)
Agents. I am worried about you. We must prepare.
Special thanks to Petra Wenz for providing me with audio from the event and to Mike Simpson for providing me with video from the event. Its because of your efforts that I was able to cross-reference audio from the event allowing me to essentially filter out the crowd and produce this transcript.

Operation Essex Ingress
Thanks so much for turning those damn things on
ReplyDeleteAround this time the "End Game" begins? A tie-in of a cross-over universe with the launch of the new ARG?
ReplyDeleteWait, so Resistance frequency control of the anomaly has...what? No effect? Isn't this tantamount to saying ADAs control of the Anomaly....*signalled the shapers?!*
ReplyDeleteEDIT: or would ENL control have shut them off? So confused. Would the portals have healed anyway? I just want to know the result of this anomaly, for cripes sake.
Also, sidebar:
ReplyDeleteA) Woo! Hank is back!
B) I think there is ambiguity in transcription. " the shapers, our worst nightmare" could be reparsed to "the shapers-our worst nightmare." Relevant distinction. One implies shapers = worst nightmare, shapers and/or nightmare.
Krishna Hammond Thanks for the input. The requested change in wording has been made
ReplyDeleteAs a resistance member that worked tirelessly to shuffle artifacts I feel like this is a punch in the gut. 16 R 2 E (and 3 NIA). This seems like no matter what was done the story was written with no alternative ending. I hope more of this transcript comes to light and with the resistance modulation to the frequency they decide there was some point to the efforts. The shapers are being lured in to a trap or something.
ReplyDeleteWell Guess we know why the #oilrigg
Shapers = Nightmare/Dragon/Overlord. Wow that's really a tremendously moving forward. Looking forward to the official video clip leaks.
ReplyDeleteAnthony Moore I have a feeling that if the Enlightened had won, Jarvis would not have activated the artifacts. However, when exploring potential possibilities one should remember that they are in fact only possibilities, no matter how probable they are. Speculation involving these possibilities is pointless; Only Niantic knows the truth on the matter.
ReplyDeleteUPDATE: There was a slight transcription error where I had thought that Hank Johnson had said "_The shapers--our worst nightmare_". However Yik Sheng Lee pointed out in the Operation Essex hangout that this may not be the case. The transcript has been updated to reflect this.
ReplyDeleteYes I too am patiently awaiting the video
ReplyDeleteAnthony Moore I have a link to the video if you want it
ReplyDeleteThomas Arteaga may I have the link please.
ReplyDeleteAnthony Moore we all knew this would happen, or something like it. Nearly every storyline character who has said anything about the artifacts warned that they would have unintended consequences. But you guys gave them to ADA anyway, and now we all reap the whirlwind. How is this a surprise at all?
ReplyDeleteAnthony Moore You were warned not to do it.
ReplyDeletecorrection to ADA's final words, she says "Agents, I AM worried about you." (not "have"). That makes a big difference.
ReplyDeleteIan Friedrich Jim Typhoon Lesser of 2 evils I suppose, but very reminiscent of Magnus 13 where rules started that Jarvis had to have all 13 shards, then changed to majority, and the ones that were not gathered by the enl seem to have had zero effect on his personality although the ones the enl failed to capture would seem to be very important for a leader.
ReplyDeleteI agree that a story must progress but I feel the "Choose your own adventure" feel of Ingress story line is falling apart when all choices lead to the same page. If however this is a means to a crossover for Endgame however I understand the singular course.
Anthony Moore the warning was clear even if the implications were not.
ReplyDeleteWe delivered artifacts too. We didn't listen either.
Adam Gilmore Good catch. Error has been corrected
ReplyDeleteAnthony Moore what were the shards of Jarvis that were missing? I seem to recall charisma, empathy, immortality... All traits the resurrected man appeared to be lacking. All paths take us to the same page, but the wording changes a bit based on how you get there.
ReplyDeleteIn this case we were all baited with the promise of power, and warned of the dangers of the unknown. Nowhere did anyone say "if the Resistance captures them, we'll be protected." It's not like Niantic is going back on their word (this time). We were all told from multiple sources that activating the artifacts would have unknown and potentially disastrous consequences. And the Resistance chose to abandon their official position of caution and bring them all to ADA, who had openly announced that she was not afraid of them and was planning to use them.
This "punch in the gut" isn't a surprise twist in the story. It's the expected consequence of ignoring all the warnings and playing with a dangerous unknown. They told us this would happen before anyone had captured more than a handful of artifacts. We played the game anyway, and now here we are.
Ian Friedrich "Punch in the gut" is more that Jarvis feared them, which is odd since they seem to be summoning the "Shapers". Also odd that the shapers would need a beacon to find earth...O.o
ReplyDeleteAs for the Shards "Memory, charisma,Empathy, and Immortality" were captured by the resistance, Creativity was uncaptured. If you feel Empathy: the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. Is NOT an important trait of someone who is supposed to be "Enlightened" and yet you fear AI.... Empathy for humanity and Humans, something that Roland Jarvis is no longer. Should be a top priority. A. D. A. is often feared for being " cold " and willing to "Sacrifice humans for her own needs" yet in order to heal himself Jarvis was and has proven he is willing to kill anyone in order to maintain his health, and secure his longevity. Lethal doses of Dark XM have taken the lives of more then a few. While "Enlightened" dwell on ADA's "Hit" on Jarvis. You count 2 bodies on for ADA. So Far Roland has racked up at LEAST 2x that. the 2 transporting his body from CDC, the 2 when he was healed that Azmati killed to prevent from suffering the same painful fate.
When pointing a finger at someone always keep in mind you have 3 pointing back at you.
Anthony Moore I never defended Jarvis' body count, and I don't know where you're getting the idea that I approve of anything he's done. Whoever he was before, his resurrected self was changed, and not for the better. We see that he lacks empathy, a trait that (as you say) makes him no better than ADA. He lacks charisma, and has in all ways failed to be a strong leader. In fact, the Enlightened are pretty much without direction since bringing him back. He lacks immortality, hence the need for the dark XM treatments (which to his credit he is now refusing) and his rapidly failing health. Hard to say much on the subject of his memory, with how little he talks about his past, but I'd wager it went the same way as his hair. Point is, all the traits captured by the Resistance, the resurrected Jarvis clearly does not have. Creativity seems lacking as well, being that we haven't heard much of anything more creative than trite new-age platitudes from him since his return.
ReplyDeleteSo you can clearly see the results of that anomaly, with what shards were and were not gathered by the Enlightened. You can't say the whole thing was pre-scripted and player choices had no effect on the outcome. Why should Helios be any different? We were told (in vague terms) what to expect if enough of the artifacts were activated. The Resistance captured a whole bunch of them, and gave them to ADA, who had clearly stated her intention to activate them. Now the results of that choice are becoming known.
I don't know what would have happened if the Enlightened got them, since Jarvis didn't want anything to do with them, and no one else on our team was speaking up for them at all. Maybe they just would have sat there, kept away from ADA like the shards you captured in 13Magnus were kept away from Jarvis. Maybe OLW or someone would have found a way to activate them, just like ADA did. Hard to say. My point is, the story is not being hijacked away from the winning team of this anomaly. It's going exactly where all the clues said it would if you won. You're even still fighting the Shapers, by summoning whatever it is they are afraid of. (Whoever said they were summoning the Shapers was mistaken.) If any of these events surprise you, you haven't been paying close enough attention.
