I've been thinking about what flint dille said regarding Essex Badge requirements.

I've been thinking about what flint dille said regarding Essex Badge requirements. My Idea is that it would have some sort of application process similar to the Elite V. I was thinking people could do a sort of write up about a favorite character or event. Maybe a group effort to come up with a theory could get all members of he group a badge.  Essex is about collaboration. Maybe a fan fiction would count as well. maybe expand into the future or past of an event, or talk about an event from another person's point of view.

  1. I'd also like to expand on Mike Wissinger's idea of having a +1 from someone, though unfortunately Edgar Allan Wright is MIA. Maybe a character directly reacting to your comments would be an indication of a good investigator.

  2. That's another way one could go about it.  In my mind the essence of Essex is contributing to the investigation of XM research and the drama behind it such that we contribute materially to either the public understanding of what's going on or to the depth of that drama itself.  I figured if we were useful enough to one of the researchers that they made use of one of our insights that would be a sign we were doing good work.

The trick is convincing the NIA to find value in those of us who are working to uncover their secrets.  If Owen were to decide he needs research stringers poking holes in the edges of his coverup so he could tighten his narrative that would definitely be incentive for him to get the scanner to acknowledge our efforts.  It may even further his hide-in-plain-sight strategy, under the assumption that nobody would hide a real conspiracy when they encouraged people to look behind the curtain via a badge mechanic.

I like Mike Wissinger's idea-really, I do. But what if you have Investigators who aren't able to snag responses from characters but still provide good content? I think it should be one avenue of earning the Essex Badge, not the main avenue.

I would also like to consider the idea of perhaps a nomination. Perhaps other Investigators here see an individual's actions as noteworthy. Maybe that is an possible avenue for earning the badge?

Gregory Waggoner Hank Johnson is my favorite too :)

  4. Mike Wissinger I wonder if X would start leaking our conversations to rebut Owen's coverups as well.

  5. Drew Dondero Perhaps she could. Anything's possible.

  6. In addition to a +1 from a character, I'd love for folks that recover dead drops in the wild and publish their findings to get credit.  Remember, truth seekers are out there that may not yet know about Essex. It is a good gateway in.

  7. Erik Hartley Yes, that is a wonderful idea.

  8. Erik Hartley That's true.  It would be neat to see storyline related drops similar to Hank's cave story script at the end of Recursion.  These would contain nothing else, but a public reshare would get you a badge code

  9. Drew Dondero That's exactly what I'm thinking.

  10. I'd love an essex badge.
However, there are a lot of embmers who do not participate.

It would be really tough to come up with a solution to the issue.

I personally think voting and getting X votes would allow you to get one.
    Thats just me.
People who are unknown and do not contribute to essex will not be known by popular members who are active, thus not receive a vote.

Anyone caught voting for EVERY member will not get a badge either.

  11. The +1 or reshare idea is definitely something Niantic can work with, as the Eve badge demonstrated. Another approach would be necessary as well (like with recruiting more agents). Something any agent could achieve. Perhaps something tied in with the new Missions feature that incorporates investigation elements.

  12. It would be a shame if Stein Lightman came to talk to us again, and it was leaked into the public

  13. William TNSheep  The reason I seem to not participate is every time I have spoken out about a theory  that didnt  swing to the ENL camp  I've gotten bashed. It got old quick. I have seen it for other agents as well the group seems to be enl dominated. Which would be fine if the ENL were "Enlightened" enough to take into consideration anything that exceptionally green in context.

  14. Anthony Moore I would have to disagree with you.  I've had plenty of discussions with ENL Essex members.  They know my bias well towards RES, and I feel we still have a mutual respect

  15. Drew, if they want to be crybabies, let them act like crybabies.

  16. Some quick thoughts - A voting process would  place an ongoing time burden on neutral individual(s) to continually validate members to earn(?) the badge.  It would also put pressure on the quiet majority of members to come up with ways to validate themselves to the Essex community.  There are also Essexians who used to actively contribute and participate, but for whatever reason no longer do so.

I mentally picture a badge grab if it ends up outside of the community.

  17. X gives out codes for participating in offical posts. Maybe screenshots of her private messages could count towards the badge.
Of course participation is only part of it. The content of the participation should be useful to the investigation for it to count

  18. Now official discussions I participate in those a few times a week. but in essex I've come to the decision to read all post and comment on a few  that I dont think ill get my teeth kicked in
