2. 3 apples that change the world: First one Eve gave to Adam, second one fall on Sir Isaac Newton's head, and 3rd were created(invented? problem with translation) by Steve Jobs.

ReplyDeleteThe god of olympus threw a big party and all of the deities were invited ,except for eris, who was known for being a bit of a trouble maker, and harsh on the eyes as well.
Being a wiley and clever goddess, she crafted an apple of pure gold and inscribed upon it 'kallisti', which means 'to the prettiest one'.
Of course all of the goddeses believed herself to be deserving of the golden apple , as each believed herself to be the prettiest and a great row ensued.
Zeus, being a wise and just god, chose to give the task of deciding who was the fairest to a mortal man named Paris. Lo, the flaws of man.
Later, when the palace was sleeping, each goddess in turn went to Paris in the night and offered him fame, riches and other tempting gifts to sway his decision in each her favor.

ReplyDeleteI am going to go with the non storyline approach to this one, Apple as in iOS the ammount as in the requirements to obtain the badge. the snake with apples, a play on the Adam an Eve mythos.

ReplyDeleteole georg graf given Niantics track record I would say no, but look at the Initio badge, how far was it used into the story line compared to Recursion or Interitus? Sometimes, a badge is just a badge.

ReplyDeleteThe tree in the garden in the myth is widely accepted by scholars not to be an apple tree. I've seen one argument that it was more likely to be a persimmon tree.
ReplyDeleteGoing further into the Eve myth, the point of the tree was that it represented knowledge and eating the fruit was the required action to initially gain that knowledge. However, the knowledge was banned - they were forbidden to eat the fruit.
The serpent was the agent who tempted Eve, which led to Eve and Adam eating the fruit, disobeying Elohim, and being sent out of the garden.
Does the serpent therefore represent Niantic? Does the choice to start playing Ingress represent a shift from a comfortable life to one of more discomfort? There's also a lack-of-free-will metaphor that could be expanded on that fits with modern interpretations of the Genesis story.

Yes, the word is not well expressed in English language bibles. It also is a combination of male and female elements. Which, yes, makes Niantic fit better as Elohim and individual agents as serpents.
ReplyDeleteThis may sound dumb but on first appearance I thought the snake was a wall like our links the apples I assumed for IOS the 3 red apples I'm guessing new fraction but the snake I dunno I'm still floating on representation of a link wall
