Origin

In programming it means:
"Deprecation is an attribute applied to a computer software feature, characteristic, or practice to indicate that it should be avoided (often because it is being superseded). Beyond describing software, the term is also used for a feature, design, or practice that is permitted but no longer recommended in other areas, such as hardware design or compliance to building codes."

  2. Ian Friedrich Jarvis enlightenment plans are actually deprecating people as they are too. Come to think about it people are "deprecating" each other through the whole of history too...

  5. It seemed pretty clear to me; it means we're obsolete. We need to be upgraded; forcibly evolved. The same thing everyone was upset about Jarvis wanting to do. She even went so far as to say that loss of individuality was an acceptably small price for this evolution.

  6. Ian Friedrich the loss of individuality seemed to me to be less of a cost and more part of the designed outcome.
