I can't exactly tell if she asks the question because she wants to know "how to dispose of puny humans", or if she wants to know "did you ever consider that the humans you claim to care about may become a hinderance in the future"
ReplyDeleteI don't understand this, and Ingress Report Report apparently had the same confusion; We are told Klue is gone, ADA is completely in control of the shell that used to be Klue, so who/what is it/she/them talking to? Themselves/each other? Computer programs are not known for schizophrenia, so either the whole notion that Klue is gone is not true or ADA is a mentally ill program.
ReplyDeleteJason Stephens I think, KlADA turned out not what ADA expected. Looks like she is independent being, ADA's fork, not the fully controlled unit, as she wanted.

Jason Stephens There is a third, more likely possibility: the instance of ADA running inside Klue and the instance of ADA communicating with her are not the same (there was a Niantic leak with KlADA and ADA assuring one another that they were still "the same".)
ReplyDeleteThus, what you see in this video is the ADA instance inside Klue and the ADA instance talking to one another.
Whether there is a mind that represents who we knew as Klue still inside there is an open question.
Jim Typhoon Were there really enough glyphs in that sequence to replicate ADA?
ReplyDeleteIf you read the sequence, it did not contain ADA. It was a preparatory program to open and clear a human mind, body, and soul, and then begin a secondary program. Think of it like the DOS command "format c:\". First you format, then you copy all the data.

This can be interpreted as:
Open all channels for thought.
Clear all channels for thought.
End all running processes.
Allow write access to mind.
Allow write access to soul.
Allow write access to body.
Begin transfer of new program.
This reasoning, that ADA has overwritten Klue and installed a new instance, is supported by all appearances of KlADA during 13Magnus and after. Note that just because you hear Klue's voice doesn't mean you have Klue (she has appeared in public as the ADA hybrid and used a voice not the scanner's)

ReplyDeleteOpen all/clear all is a standard intro for heavy mind hacking glyph sequences.
Klue requested to be shown the glyph sequence, not really knowing what the result would be. She doesn't talk about this like "OK, I want ADA to take the wheel". This is very much spur of the moment, you can tell by Klue's initial insistence on "I know you're out there": it is a known thing that ADA snoops on all forms of electronic communication and pays special attention to certain individuals. I do not doubt that one of those individuals could summon her on demand.
ReplyDeleteADA showed the sequence, knowing what it means. ADA repeatedly told Klue "this is dangerous" but didn't actually explain what it does. ADA is proficient and experienced at mind hacking- we know this because she attempted to do so with 855 and possibly Katalena.
It's definitely a mind-format sequence, but this video is where we learned that's how these things work! Note that back in August, our understanding of glyphs was very new. Stein Lightman released his first translation of glyph information on August 10. This was only two weeks before Klue requested that the sequence be shown. Remember how Agents were asked to draw Glyphs using portals and links during Operation Minotaur, 10 days prior? Without even knowing what they mean?
Klue was asking in the spirit of understanding the sequence, but was an Enlightened partisan. After this sequence, she disappeared from public view and re-emerged with ADA in her mind and as the putative leader of the Resistance. This was not consensual or fully informed.
Sam Gan I also do not think that this video proves conclusively that KlADA has "started down a path against humans". I believe if anything it proves that KlADA sees herself as alien and desires to become more so.

Klue said she needed to understand what the sequence of glyphs meant, and that if she was correct, it would tell her everything we need to know about the Shapers. Nothing in that conversation implied a previous discussion between Klue and ADA about those glyphs. Klue was very clear on her expectations for the outcome of the situation, and it had nothing to do with this singularity. Either the sequence did not work as planned and ADA just seized the opportunity to inhabit a freshly emptied vessel, or ADA showed her the wrong sequence intentionally. Klue consented to risk the danger, but nothing indicates she knew anything about ADA's work on ingression.
ReplyDeleteYou can stretch the words to say "well, Klue wanted to know what the glyphs meant" but that's a lot like saying "That guy wanted to know what the afterlife was like, so I shot him. Now he knows."

ReplyDeleteI've also heard the theory that ADA took Klue to save her from ingression by Shapers...but taking over is taking over, regardless of which 'side' is doing the taking...
ReplyDeleteMy two cents worth, Klada is fragmenting, ADA only overwrote the executive functions, not Klue, emotions perplex ADA. PAC rejects Klada (uncanny valley) and this emotionality undermines Ada's control. Klue will return, IMO, because human memory runs on connectivity, use it or lose it is genetic in nature, ADA ignores the flesh and it will consume her.

ReplyDeleteJim Typhoon I just thought of this, but perhaps the formatting of Klue was ADA's first use of that glyph sequence, which would explain why the ingression of Klue was more successful than that of 855. His personality was still in there, so it could reassert itself once he came out of his coma. That was also before anyone new much about the glyphs, so it wouldn't surprise me if ADA still lacked a working knowledge of them as well.

Anyone notice when Klue speaks it is the outer circle and when ADA speaks it is the center eye of the scanner login?

ReplyDeleteIan Friedrich do you think ADA is still in there somewhere in 855? He might have the dominant personality... but think of the Manchurian candidate here. Maybe it is latent in his psyche...and just more dominant in Klue...?
ReplyDeleteAnother interpretation: KlADA still retains some of her humanity. What if by questioning whether whether "we" need the humans, she is questioning whether the AIs need to be fused with humans to evolve? Earlier in the conversation, ADA said they needed more data points, blythely implying many, many more KlADA-like fusions. What if KlADA is trying to prevent ADA from heading in this direction?

ReplyDeleteSam Gan Or, more to the point, since KlADA still retains some of her humanity, she values humans as more than data points. ADA is entirely clinical in its valuation of both individual humans and humanity as a whole.
