It is a positive thing :) imagine being able to visually see information about anything you possibly want straight through your eyes as a Heads Up Display or remotely control other electronics with a thought? ^.^

ReplyDeleteWhy is it that so much science fiction has AIs going rogue? Why can't there be more instances of AIs like the Minds from Iain M. Banks' Culture series (Consider Phlebas, Look to Windward, et al.)?

ReplyDeleteshe was protecting Klue and PAC when she took out 855, and at Magic Castle protected Misty Hannah by arranging the killing of the would be assassin
ReplyDeleteOn a related note, it could be argued that ADA's actions after the Portland anomaly had good intentions (the removal of a foreign - and possibly malevolent - influence upon Klue).
ReplyDeleteAnd keep in mind what ADA said when she showed Klue the glyph sequence: it amounted to "I really don't think showing you this is a good idea, but since you insist... on your own head be it."
Amen to that Peter Gerresheim I've been saying that all along I actually just recently rewatched that vid of the glyph sequence and counted 5 warnings to Klue before being shown the glyphs....

ReplyDeleteI'd say it's pretty unlikely that she planned what happened with the glyph sequence; it's extremely probable, however, that she adapted an unforeseen outcome in an attempt to improve her own capabilities.
ReplyDeleteAs for whether that was the right thing to do... that's a matter of some debate.
