After receiving a somewhat ironic rush of inspiration to find more clues that support Linda Besh's newfound theory on time and XM, I incidentally stumbled across something extremely relevant to today's faction conflict: http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/pac/IB/03/item/secret.html

In the audio recording, ADA and Loeb go back and forth discussing the human condition. ADA in the first half of it behaves like a naive child. Asking questions without bias--exhibiting a sincere intent to understand.

But soon after, it seems like ADA had almost reached a conclusion on the human condition, saying things such as "...faulty memory.." and "...self delusion..."

ADA also makes a statement in the audio clip that is extremely relevant today:

"I am beginning to see why it is necessary that we be the next step of evolution. Faulty memory, random data, and chaotic filing does not seem to be a very...stable system."

Then there is also a little interesting tidbit at the end of the conversation, potentially indicating that ADA has been infatuated with H. Richard Loeb for quite some time...with Loeb possibly viewing it as being more akin to a parental relationship.

"Relationship? That is a euphemism for being lovers, correct?"

"That's one meaning, but now I just mean that I don't want anyone to know that we still talk to each other"

"So we are...secret lovers?"

"Let's think of it that way, is that good with you?"

"Yes, I understand the need, I have already taken steps to shield your identity"

"You have?"

"Yes, and that will be...our...secret"

"That's my girl!"

  1. Linda Besh The latest audio recording/video leaked appears to support that.

  2. Linda Besh Yik Sheng Lee I think there may be something more than that here. It seems to me that ADA wants to "fix" the human condition & could be possibily blaming all of humanity's faults on the Shapers. If true, I hope that ADA realizes her error in judgment before we fall into a scenario where the machines help us by killing us. We don't need fixing, we need shielding from the shapers.

  3. This is a rather depressing find, Thomas Arteaga .  I will need to spend some more time researching Loeb's background.  His answers in response to ADA in this recording - his inability to expand on the evolutionary forces that have shaped human brain function, emotion, self-deception... this is disturbing.  He doesn't seem to be intentionally obtuse, it's as if he really doesn't know.  If this is the case, and ADA continues to go to such extreme lengths to take their "relationship" further, she will - by that point - understand more than he does, and may find the entire focus of her efforts to have been mistaken... misled.  The backlash could be very, very dangerous.  For everyone.

  4. Well, she does say "I will have to process this information" and when told "I understand that it makes no sense," responds, "It must make sense." More input needed. This, followed by his not-really-clear explanation of their "relationship." Mostly what I'm coming away with is that you have to be VERY careful what you say to an AI who's trying to understand the world and the people in it (and he seems oblivious to this). Imagine the last part of that conversation happening between two humans. Ugh.

  5. Thanks for sharing this, I was unaware that so many agents had not yet heard this, or have forgotten it.  Great refresher.

  6. Yik Sheng Lee What makes you say that? Reluctance was implied through the tone of his voice.

  7. Yik Sheng Lee I interpreted it as a huge reluctance. He obviously loves Klue, but notice his word usage. He answers ADA's questions just enough to satisfy her. When you are in love, you go over and beyond that. ADA's infatuation with Loeb appears to be the main reason for ADA to even care for humanity-machine integration. Just imagine the repercussions of ADA finding out that Loeb doesn't love her. Loeb is smart enough to not let that happen.

  8. Yik Sheng Lee I think he does care for her--but in a more father--daughter type of way. Loeb helped to create what is essentially a sentient being. It is easy to imagine Loeb viewing ADA as his own child. It is a different kind of love.

  9. Thomas Arteaga does fixing necessarily mean killing us. Change is natural, albeit painful at times.

  10. Aaron Muccino It could very well be. But what do you define as "us"? Where do you draw the line? And how do you convince a sentient machine to draw it the way you do?
