    Some of the segments almost sound like shortwave radio, but not quite tuned to the right frequency.

    It was hard without a pure instrumental to invert to get voices in entirety. Instead tried to remove the surrounding frequencies which some of the levels on the voices may have been removed as well. That is why some of them sound muffled.
