It's interesting, the Essex was the Moby Dick ship correct? According to the wiki, The Niantic Landed in San Fransisco and the crew deserted to join the gold rush. It was run aground and converted into a hotel the remains were rediscovered 3 or 4 times since it "landed." That supports the whole cycle mentality

It's also worth noting that The Niantic is underneath where the current Trans America building is. A building that looks like a pyramid, and is very near Cupid's Span.

ReplyDeleteThere is more: the original location of the Teatro Colon was... Plaza de Mayo. In fact, there is still a Parque Colon next to the Plaza de Mayo.

I am not sure if the Venus/Cupid statue was already in the Teatro Colon's old location. The statue is called 'El Secreto' (The Secret and was made for the theatre by the German Gustav Eberlein, while he was in Rome. Eberlein lived from 1847 until 1926, the old theater opened in 1857 and was used until at least 1908.
