ReplyDeleteOk - trying to work through concepts, so throwing this out, please help correct me :)
There is the ba, the ka and the akh. If we try to match this potential theory/concept to jarvis - how does that line up?
First just going with what is defined in the conversation (other research to come in later, but trying to just go from the researchers' mindsets)
It is mentioned mummification is done so the Ka can return to the body - is Jarvis's "ka" what we have seen in the portals? Or is it the Ba as Stein said "Ba could move between life and the afterlife. Or our world and the other world."
That leaves what is the Akh, as Stein mentions, "The Akh was the part of the soul that was either worthy or unworthy."
and there is this mention - "akh and ka were believed to need a preserved body and tomb in order to exist."
So if Jarvis's body (in the CDC) is destroyed - then his akh and ka are lost? But the Ba would still exist?
I think Jarvis' body will be moved to Buenos Aires. Just a hunch.
ReplyDeleteI know you said "just a hunch" Jim Typhoon, but is there some piece of information that inspired that hunch? I think a lot of us have assumed his body would make it to Cupid's Span on December 14th for possible reunification. I'd love to hear your theory.

According to Wikipedia the Ba (personality) and Ka (vital essence) reunite to form the akh ( magically, effective one)
I was thinking about the idea of the ka needing the body as an origin point, and realized that the person closest to the body of Jarvis right now is Devra. The USG currently holds the body but she may have convinced the CDC to release it to her.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing is, one guy who really wants a cure to chaotic matter poisoning is Antoine Smith. He could offer Devra facilities to operate under the aegis of SE. Devra is already going rogue with regard to Visur. Is this a stretch? Maybe a little.
The body is a vessel that the spirit elements rest in or visit. Its the place where the Ba and the Ka combine to form the Akh. Without a preserved body, they can't come together. . . At least thats been my understanding of it. So if you want to mess with the Jarvis entity, mutilation or destruction of the corpse would be a good start. Something is keeping it preserved, even healing the autopsy wounds as the Egyptian priests would stitch up the cuts made to remove the organs and paint spells on the skin along the seams. In the meeting at the CDC, Devra says peopke are coming for the body, and thats why it's being guarded by the military. Her tone indicated the people coming for it were not nice people. Possibly there is an impending conflict between multiple interests that will come to a head when they all decend on the place where the body is being held. I dont think it's a forgone conclusion where it will ultimately end up. SF, BA, or somewhere else as Devra would no doubt prefer it.
