Investigators, you'll notice that one of the very hard questions is regarding the Buenos Aires shard target for the Resistance. Bring what you have to the table regarding why this portal is important.

  1. The Pirámide De Mayo is definitely a Resistance symbol projecting the ideas of liberty and independence. Interestingly, the May Revolution did not result directly in a declaration of independence. The group in charge, the Primera Junta, governed in the name of the deposed king.

It makes me wonder if a Resistance victory would lead to the same thing: no true freedom (at least not yet).

  2. No true freedom, no true control. It is foolish on our part to think otherwise.

  3. (Edited for clarity)

So... I've been doing a little research into this... Not even sure why, but I've learned not to question my 'gut'.

As previously mentioned, the Pirámide De Mayo is a symbol of the "May Revolution", which would certainly align it towards Resistance ideals. However, something in my research gives me pause. Jose Ramirez alluded to it briefly, but here's an interesting expansion:

"The government created on May 25 pronounced itself loyal to the deposed King of Spain Ferdinand VII, but historians disagree on whether this was sincere or not. Since Mitre, many historians think that this professed loyalty was merely a political deception to gain autonomy. The Primera Junta did not pledge allegiance to the Council of Regency, which was still in operation, and in 1810 it still seemed unlikely that Napoleon would be defeated and Ferdinand returned to the throne (which finally happened on December 11, 1813, with the Treaty of Valençay). The purpose of such a deception would have been to gain time to strengthen the position of the patriotic cause and avoid reactions that may have led to a counter-revolution, by making it appear that monarchical authority was still respected and that no revolution had taken place. The ruse is known as the "Mask of Ferdinand VII"."

Something leads me to believe that we could be looking at a split in ideals if the Resistance 'wins' this battle of the Shards. Someone higher up has an ideal that's drastically different than the typical Resistance 'party line', and they're using this particular monument as a (hopeful) statement point.

There's also another outside point to look at... The Pirámide De Mayo is a very short distance away from the most main part of the University of Buenos Aires (within 2km). UBA is a very prestigious school, with a very large list of research studies. Some of them include Energy, Environmental Chemistry, Biophysics, Pathological Biochemistry... And they have a morgue attached to the University.

My big picture of this is: We could be looking at a faction of people that are wearing the "Mask Of The Resistance", looking to gather the Shards of Jarvis in a spot where they have plenty of facilities, researchers, and means to do something; revive Jarvis for their own means, pursue their own research in Chaotic Matter... Could be anything.

I fear we might not find out until it's too late.
