Kalash of Cultures - Pakistan: http://youtu.be/qEXnEfdvv6s The argument: 1. Watch the video; this Dardic mountain tribe plays polo. They fiercely fought for their independence through the ages, till the British arrived; at which point they adopted some British customs like playing polo on weekends (although they claim they invented the game first). 2. The Kalasha have lived in geographic isolation for so long that their DNA has diverged. But, there are markers to suggest that they come from around the Mediterranean(that is, that they are Dardic). There are 2 theories as to how they got there: a. They were travellers along the silk route who decided to settle in a scenic location and sell spices, apricots and cherries (the latter two do not grow in the subcontinent, only in the Mediterranean; and with no contact with the outside world for centuries, there's no other way they could've gotten these fruits) b. Awesome ;)
ReplyDeleteI refuse to call these 'clues', or even 'breadcrumbs'. They're bits and pieces of a story of Obsidius.
ReplyDeleteSo, it seems this latest Intel all but confirms that Obsidius was a sensitive. It appears increasingly unlikely that he was a simulacrum, at least at this point in the story. Seems like an interesting character....
ReplyDeleteIt seems that it doesn't require being simulacrum to leave breadcrumbs, only to be XM sensitive. Hopefully the Niantic researchers and sensitives left /something/ in the portal network before they lost their memories.
ReplyDeleteI doubt he can blend in with the Germanic tribes as they look vastly different from the people of the Mediterranean.
"I suspect that the offshoot sect will be much more effective in subverting the empire from within." --> Christianity?
Could the narrator be Publius Quinctilius Varus? He served the Romans in Judea and then in Germany. [Edit. No. The dates for Titus are too late. Sorry! lol.]
ReplyDeleteYik Sheng Lee True. I merely meant that he is definitely a sensitive. At this point in the narrative at least, if he is also a simulacrum he doesn't seem aware of it. He ascribes his proficiency as an exploratore and speculatore to skill and experience. I just don't see evidence, yet, to suggest that he is a simulacrum. Of course, as the conclusion of Abaddon demonstrated, simulacrum are capable of not beif aware of their condition. Perhaps ignorance of their nature as simulacra is the norm and those such as Hank Johnson who are successful in informing their future recursions are the rare exceptions
