    Carrie would disagree. During the LINZ-Interview she said "I don't think of them as words. They're more a reference to something larger"

    All written language is a reference to something larger. The original written languages were meant to relate lessons and history- often as religion- to decedents.

    Gerald Wolf yes. And I disagree with Carrie. "A reference to something bigger" is what a word is. Lexemes are meant to refer to complex concepts in our minds.
