So, it's been quite some time since I had anything of interest to relate... but I figure this new glyph/ message (the first one I've encountered so far) fits the bill.

The glyph is best described as "an anticlockwise spiral starting from the center of the array", and it translates as "Unbounded"; the full glyph message is "Human Failure Unbounded".

(My apologies if this has already been encountered/discussed.)

Comments

  1. it can be related to the glyph that says, Advance civilization repeat failure?

On any case , it seem that the shapers are worried about something that happened a long time ago and they thing that could happen again if we keep going on this direction.

Could it be related to the extinction of the old civilizations?

  2. But isn't the unbounded glyph familiar? "Search" is in the base of the glyph, and unbounded means "having or appearing to have no limits." As a species we are constantly failing at something, so "human failure unbounded" is not pessimistic. In our failures come some pretty cool successes. You can be a pessimist or you can be an optimist. You decide.

  3. glenn long The optimist says that this is the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist is afraid he's right.

  4. I like glenn long 's interpretation.  "Move fast and break things. Fail faster."  Every failure is an opportunity to learn.

  5. I think that both interpretation are wrong, living system are always in a precarious balance between caos and order, if you slice the balance toward one, normally death make an appearance.

  6. I take it to mean the obvious. If you (human) step off the path (failure), you will become unbounded (loose yourself).

Ingress as a game, especially the interaction of the social side, has allowed me to grow a lot personally. Many lessons; this is not the space to discuss them.

But one thing which comes to mind is the dichotomy we encounter between holding firm to our values (ethics), and following mass hysteria (group think especially; to much xm exposure 😂😂😂). Stepping off the path is very easy 😉

  7. I think a growing spiral is a suitable glyph for "unbounded". An outward spiral has all thre room in the universe to grow. But as a linear glyph it can be drawn in two directions. As a spiral folds in on itself there is no escaping and the line can only circle more tightly til it runs out of space. An inward spiral would seem to represent something more along the lines of fundamentally limited, or doomed.
