I must say that I am shocked by Devra's announcement today. Certainly, I had heard the rumors, but I did not believe them. This is not the Devra I knew. This is not the Devra who I had believed fled the Niantic Project at CERN when she learned that Lynton-Wolfe and Jarvis were contemplating or in fact carrying out experiments on unsuspecting people. What has happened to her? Or, I must ask, is the situation for desperate than I had thought? What was her progression? How did she get to this point?
Could it be possible that the self-destruction sequence was more subtle and insidious than we thought? Perhaps this is the way it manifests.

In the medical field we always weigh risk vs benefit. What she is planning is just mindboggling. You have to lose some of your humanity to do such a thing..
ReplyDeleteThe civilization destruct code is a mind virus. It has to hybridize with existing memeplexes in order to function. Given the portal glyph messages, I'm convinced that truthseeking, Enlightenment, and Resistance are also Shaper mind viruses.
ReplyDeleteShe's focusing on a 20% survival rate, but the flip side of the same coin is an 80% death rate. From a rational cost-benefit equation, this only makes sense if she believes that XM exposure results in a death rate above 80% in the long term. Does she believe she too will die? Or is the effect of Dark XM so horrific that she sees this as the only option? Does she expect Dark XM to engulf the world?
ADA may not oppose Bogdanovich's action provided that sufficient mind units are collected via Resistance fields to achieve an undisclosed goal.
Maybe Devra was on a similar mental unestability like OLW, but certanly, she was more dangerous in that mental state.
ReplyDeleteIt's often the cheaters who accuse their partners of being unfaithful. Involuntary and dangerous ingression into humans by xm? What about her "guardian angel" when she does the same? Are they closer and closer each day? Why destroy xm, this supposed signifier of creativity and culture? As the corporates say, if you can measure it, you can manage it. Unmanageable variables are a risk, and risk shall be minimized.

ReplyDeleteRe-watching the video I noticed that Devra Bogdanovich is glancing downwards a lot as if she's reading from a piece of paper. Are these actually her words? Or maybe she's being somehow coerced? Remember that not all is what it seems.
ReplyDeleteJim Lai it was a survival rate "upwards of 80%" which is code for 15-20% mortality. That is the same mortality rate as SARS. The Black death had a mortality rate (with treatment) of only 1-15%.

ReplyDeleteGoing on 30 months in the field, with the scanner showing xm concentration that most could only dream (or nightmare) of. Reports from both patched and default scanners are that of heightened environmental awareness, physical fitness, social contact, and none of this death and deformity she speaks of. I will trust my and their senses over so many words on a screen from unknown sources.

ReplyDeleteCoercion seems a likely possibility. We didn't know Lynton-Wolfe was being forced to talk about the new access levels until we saw the whole picture.
ReplyDeleteShe looks a bit worse for wear, which could mean she's just spending a lot of time working on the vaccine and it's beginning to wear on her. But we need to see the whole picture, what happened immediately after that clip ended. That's where the real Intel lies.

ReplyDeleteJames Thirteen No. We don't need risk the human race. Therefore, a large group (perhaps researchers Essex) could find the answers behind the XM. But the only way to do this is ORGANIZING. All without exposing anyone, and who agree that they know is dangerous. Could be, it is an idea.
ReplyDeleteJim Lai I, although I am still an active agent, I'm not creating Mind Units. This is not to help any side, and less if the side that supposedly offered "freedom" ... changed his mind.
The Niantic proposal was reckless from the start; OLW and Ni proposed and put into action the idea of linking portals together without a controlled test of the effects of RES and ENL fields.

To be quite honest, if Devra Bogdanovich says that a 20% potential mortality rate is better than the alternative, it makes me re-evaluate things. While I do not trust her blindly, that is a hell of a leap to make and surely she has some justification for her belief.
ReplyDeleteI mean, look. When Calvin says he fears the Shapers, I may not agree but I won't ignore him. When Jarvis says that the Shapers showed him a future wherein humanity is enslaved by machines, current events sure do give one some pointers in that direction. So when Devra says maybe a bunch of people dying is better than whatever she knows is coming, I can't just throw that out.
This isn't just some random blue goat in a thread saying I WILL DIE BEFORE I LET MYSELF BE INFLUENCED (Go die, then: You first.) This is someone who knows more about XM than all of us put together.
Edgar Allan Wright you mention confronting Devra with her words from the Green Ones Audio as well as a few other audio clips that exist that could tie in - how would you recommend we get something to her?

It is unknown whether those are directives meant to be executed or warnings. All of them can be interpreted as either.
