  3. Yes Phillip Dick is truly a philosopher among these SiFi authors, but to tell the truth I really don't want to read I Ching although I have bought it a million years, in fact there is a wall of monographs about it in any big book store of China... It is a book that you can read a life long...

  4. Sorry, but I would like to apologize for my impatience in the replys. It's just because in the early day I find Google has deleted 6 important posts of mine in G+ without a single notification, and I haven't had a backup yet, that really driven me mad. But after a sleep and watched a video of Kevin Spacey's imitation in a talk show of early years just get me over from it.

Well first of all, thanks for sharing the documentary. Phillip Dick is one of my favorite author (although haven't read much of his books except for Do Android Dreams of Electric Sheep and The Minority Report ), he is in my reading plan. And I can reasonably call Google a big Phillip Dick fan (just consider Nexus), so the Ingress story may also gained some inspirations and materials from him. BTW, although Netflix is not available in China, but with the name, I can find it in some other ways.

And as for the I Ching, as I said before, I haven't read it systematically, but I have attended some lectures about it in my school years. So I know some of its basic theory (as I thinks so). It indeed has a enormous theortical system, and it is no exaggeration to say that the large part of the Chinese civilization is set on it. Its theory about cosmic status and order, FengShui and many more influenced the Chinese culture the most. So there are truly wisdom lies in it, and so as I said it is a book that can read (and worth reading ) a life long. And as for my current knowledge reserve and mentality, I'm not ready to read it yet.

But one thing is clear, that a glance of I Ching can only scratch the surface of it, or even less, so that's why I don't put a optimistic eye on the theory in that documentary even I haven't watched it yet. Or it may have quoted a part, a line, or something from it, and that also tends more likely to be interpreted out of the context. I Ching need to read as a whole from my point of view. And thus it takes amount of times to accomplish. That's why I don't recommend to spend the whole life in it just intend to make a comparison to the story of Phillip Dick. Phillip have wrote great storys and let us just enjoy them, that's all.

If you really want to make a comparison, I can recommend another to author that may inspire you: Arthur C. Clark and Stanislaw Lem. The former made the deduction of many philosophical question in a more understandable and “engineer” way, the latter made his philosophical theory in an artistic and sometimes, a humorous way.

I also made a comparison in Essex once between the Ingress story and Arthur Clark's work --Childhood's End. But unfortunately, even that post has been deleted by Google. (weirdly I can still find the link of the post through the notification board, then I hope it is just a glitch of G+. https://plus.google.com/104281744294217287390/posts/8n7h2eaDdQo )

I wish my thoughts would help you. ;-)

  5. Rohlin Sander Thank you, That was really informative. Basically the documentary talks about Philips visions and paranoia that could be accounted for the hallucinogenic era of the 70's on the largely popular on the West cost of the USA.  He was never really famous for any of his writings until after he died and today many of his fictional stories have become more or less of a reality.

The one I point out most is one that stuck out to me "Man in the High Castle" which talks about alternate parallel dimensions regarding a land where Hitler won WW2. Even further down the rabbit hole, the book has an author written into it, who is writing a book on parallel universes and the one his book is about was "What if Hitler failed during WW2" quite a nice loop twist with in a twist.

Seeing as we are talking a lot about Germany/WW2/Die Glocke I found this story had quite a match to what we are currently dealing with.

The I Ching I brought up because the way the described it fascinated me.  Basically all it really said is he used them to help him write his storys. The coins or what ever would determine the outcome of his novels.

I brought it up because it reminded me of what we are doing. Anomalies are a flip of a coin. One side wins one side loses, the way the story flows is dependent on that. Unlike some who believe its already pre written and events are influenced, I disagree strongly.

Now going back on the parallel universe idea and combine it with each reality being slightly different, the other dimension/dimensions we are linking to may have had different outcomes, Hank could be resistance because the Resistance won Chahokia. Or maybe Jarvis Mind Hacked Klue. Or Devra is on a pro XM inoculation tour.

It would help explain the separate intel we have received with the same info on it. IE Story Boards/Movie Script/Novel. Its as if the I Ching coins didnt fall in the same order as in our dimension. If that in fact describes it correctly.

LOL I do not intend, nor suggest, (Especially after what you have just said) for someone to go out and commit to study I Ching. Mainly I put the link because it is a connecting metaphor for how I views the story is playing out thus far.

  6. Lukas Lentz Great perspective to explain how Ingress storyline is developing. Seems that you are already an I Ching expert. ;-)
